What We Do

OnCourse is an Australian based charity working to eradicate poverty in Kenya since 2013.

We work alongside individuals and build relationships with whole communities so we are best placed to identify their needs and provide the support and resources necessary to achieve tangible, sustainable change.

Our Impact

We don’t measure success by dollar raised, but by the positive social, economic and personal value it’s created for the people and communities with whom we work.

Our projects are chosen and continually evaluated to maximise the long term benefit of the community. We only employ local Kenyan staff who have grown up in the community, and understand their needs intuitively, and are intrinsically invested in our mission.

OnCourse is the conduit through which passionate people in both Australia and Kenya choose to make a positive change in the world.

500+

PEOPLE Impacted

We work to empower individuals to generate their own income and improve their quality of life.

8+

Years Serving communities

We started OnCourse in late 2013 after identifying a lack of education, training and employment opportunities in Nakuru, Kenya.

100%

Of Donations

All donations go directly to our operations in Kenya. No overheads, no administration, no waste.

Our Projects

Each project also has its own assessment criteria when it comes to identifying candidates and ensuring that we are targeting those who can most benefit from them.

Our projects also evolve over time as we work out better ways to run them, adapt to the changing environment we operate in, and identify new opportunities for us to get involved with.

PRIMARY EDUCATION

While Primary School is meant to be free in Kenya, for those living in poverty, buying the school books, uniforms and basic necessities is a barrier that results in parents being unable to send their kids to school. We provide these basic needs to ensure kids get access the education every young person deserves.

Vocational Training

Often the biggest challenging facing youth in Nakuru is a lack of employment opportunities for those who were not fortunate enough to attend high school. In their teenage years, these young adults are thrown into the workforce without any qualifications, networks or opportunities.

SOCIAL SUPPORT

The reality of the environment in which we work can be desparate. Lack of sanitation, adequate housing, running water, healthcare, food and the social challenges that come with these are urgent needs. We provide basic necessities and social support as needed, such as emergency food supplies during COVID lockdowns in 2020.
